Love Letter Getting my Rescue Cat

Hello! Wow, this week has gone by so quickly! This week I get my rescue cat. I’m feeling much more settled into the house this week, even though my office is still very much looking like a dumping ground. But it’s fine, I know over time that it will eventually all start coming together. How are you? Bee x

What I’ve Been up to This Week

Love letter about rescue cat Well, it’s been a pretty exciting week for me this week! You may remember from a Q&A a couple of weeks ago that I mentioned I was trying to adopt a cat. Well, I’m super excited because we have been accepted to adopt a lovely boy called Harry and we can go and pick him up on Sunday! It’s been really hard for me to adjust to a house without cats and being away from my little fur babies. The cats at my old house all belonged to the family, so it wasn’t far for me to take any of them with me. The house is super quiet and it can get a bit lonely when you don’t have a little companion with you! And by lonely, I don’t mean I want to be around people all the time, I’m lonely from not having a cat! Anyway, Harry is around 2 or three years old and came into the rescue after a horrific collar injury. A very old collar he was wearing had managed to get stuck under one of his arms and left this awful open wound. He’s been in rescue for around three months. Not a lot is known about his past. He took around two weeks to capture and all I know is that he wasn’t microchipped (the rescue centre have since microchipped him) and as far as they know, nobody is looking for him. He hasn’t shown up on any local missing cat websites, groups, or forums. So, unfortunately, like many rescue cats, we will probably never know what his past was like. But I’m so excited to give him a new happy and loving home. He is going to be spoiled rotten. I can’t wait for you to meet him too. A Photography Tip from Bee

A photography tip This isn’t so much an editing tip, but more of a photography tip and that is lighting. If you have quite a dark house, I would really recommend investing in some lighting. You can get lighting kits quite cheaply on Amazon, like this one for £43.99 (sure, it’s not dirt cheap, but a worthy investment!) I cannot tell you how many times my lightboxes have saved a photo. They’re also good at helping to get rid of harsh shadows that you can sometimes get when you have flat lays. They also mean that you will be able to take photos during the evening when you may not have time during the day! Overall, I think they’re worth having. This link is an affiliate link.

Bee Good: A Brand that is Doing Good Things – Rescue Cat

Harry the rescue cat

Stray Cat Rescue Team West Midlands

Okay, not a ‘brand’ as such but I couldn’t talk about Harry in the newsletter without saying where I got him from! If you’re in the West Midlands and looking for a cat, then I highly recommend you have a loot at SCRT. They have been absolutely amazing. They take in cats from the streets who really need their help, which often means their cats require vet treatment. They work really hard to make sure their cats trust humans again and are ready for their new homes. As with many rescue centers they completely rely on donations, which I’ll be setting up monthly. They all work full time on top of their work with SCRT, and I’m so so grateful for what they do and for bringing us and Harry together.

The Hot List: What I’ve Been Loving This Week

Fashion I want to buy

Fashion

Mimosa Yellow Bishop Sleeve Dress Okay wow. This is another clothes brand where I could happily wear everything on their website, every single piece is so stunning. I’m especially obsessed with their dresses and trousers! Martin Pants I love Sezane, and I just adore these trousers. I’m loving pink and red together right now! Home items

Cat Condo Yes, it is a cat bed in the style of a vintage TV set and let me tell you, I have never wanted something so much in my life. I partly want it because it would look so awesome for photos, but of course I’m mainly buying it for Harry… Obviously…Rescue Cat Harry will love this. Roman Greek Style Lady Bust I just love this so much. It would look so good in the living room once it’s been painted terracotta! Pom Pom Throw in Mustard I love a good throw blanket to snuggle up under in the evenings and in winter. This mustard one would look so good once we’ve painted the living room! Books I'm looking forward to reading

Books

These links are affiliate links  The Lightness by Emily Temple Yes, the “this girl is special” trope has been done time and time again, but this book has been likened to the film The Craft, which was amazing so I’m really intrigued by this one. Self-care by Leigh Stein Yes, I am a little bit in love with this book cover. Self Care delves into the lives and psyches of people working in the wellness industry and exposes the world behind the filter. It’s not like anything I’ve ever read before, so I’m very excited to read this one! Sisters by Daisy Johnson I don’t know why, but this book is giving me The Book of Essie vibes. It’s, obviously, a dark tale of two sisters. She’s also the youngest writer to be shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize so go Daisy! You Exist too Much This book follows the life of a young Palestinian woman caught between cultural, religious, and sexual identities and is told in vignettes that flash between the U.S. and the Middle East. I’m eagerly awaiting for this one to come back in stock. I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to sharing more rescue cat Harry news with you. With Love, Bee xo
