How I Gave My Living Room an Entire Makeover for under £400

Bronte Huskinson FromBeeWithLove Living Room Makeover (12)

It was the beginning of March 2022 that I decided I’d finally had enough of the living room and hated how it was decorated.

We’ve almost been in the house for 2 years now, and much of the furniture we had in it was furniture we took from family members who didn’t want it anymore, and used it as ‘it’ll do for now’ furniture until we found something better. We both moved out of our parent’s homes, so we didn’t really have furniture of our own and we were just taking what we could for free.

Ways I Will Look After Myself This Autumn

@FromBeeWithLove Bronte Huskinson Ways I Will Look After Myself This Autumn

I always find autumn is a hard time to look after yourself physically and mentally and I’m sure this year it won’t be any different. I think, like most people, I have found it really challenging over the last few years and I’m determined to not let myself go downhill.

We’re all about romanticizing your life here and living your life in a way that makes you feel happy, content, and like you’re the main character. There are so many amazing people on Instagram who I find super inspiring and who really inspire me to want to romanticise my life and live it in a way that I want to, not what society tells us.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of people, just a handful of my favourites!

A Day In The Life Of A Eternal Romantic

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A ETERNAL ROMANTIC with @FromBeeWithLove Bronte Huskinson

Over the past year, my days have started to slow down and be a lot more chilled out. It’s made me realise how much I actually love slow living and taking things at a slower pace. Since I have decided to romanticise my life, I have really embraced the small, slow moments so I thought I would write a blog post about what a typical day looks like for me.

I’ll wake up at around 7am. I don’t need an alarm because the cats will be brushing up against my face, purring loudly and meowing for their breakfast. We’ll have a little cuddle before we head downstairs into the kitchen.

I’ll ask Google to play the radio or a wake up playlist on Spotify, depending on my mood. Me and the cats will eat breakfast together and I’ll have a cup of tea.

After breakfast, that’s when I’ll ring my mum for our morning FaceTime. We do this everyday, and will FaceTime throughout the day rather than texting because we are both awful at reading out texts and they often don’t make sense! But the first FaceTime in the morning is usually a meeting about what we are planning on getting done today, upcoming shoots we have to do and just a general chit chat too. Oh, and we definitely show each other our cats!

After breakfast I’ll go upstairs and make the bed. This is actually the most important part of the routine for me as it sets up me up to have a productive day. I always feel much better after I’ve made the bed, and taken the extra minutes to make it properly.

Then I will do my skincare routine. This is something I never miss and take my time with as my skin is so dry that it gets annoyed with me if I don’t do it! If I fancy wearing make up, then I’ll put some on.

I’ll then decide what I want to wear for the day. I’m usually a lot more productive if I like the outfit I’m wearing, and I’m having fun experimenting with fashion at the moment, so I’ll take my time putting my outfit together.

After all that, that’s when work will start which is usually around 9/9:30. The great thing about working from home is that you can choose where you want to work for the day! Right now, I’m actually writing this from underneath a throw blanket on my bed because the central heating is broken and it’s really cold in the house, but I’m usually in my office at my writing bureau or on the sofa, depending on my mood. I’ll sometimes even work from the living room if I want something playing in the background.

Even though a lot of my job is posting on my Instagram, taking the content actually isn’t what I spend most of my time doing! I shoot in advance and take multiple photos in a day, so it isn’t that time consuming. My days are usually spent on my laptop editing photos, writing blog posts either for me or other people, creating a monthly freebie, writing newsletters, trying out a new editing technique, or researching for upcoming shoots.

I actually try and stay off my phone during the day because as soon as I pick it up, I’ll get distracted by Instagram, Tik Tok, or Pinterest.

I’ll usually work until I’m hungry which is around 12:30. I’ll then give myself an hour to do whatever I fancy doing that day and take some time to myself. I’ll eat my lunch, catch up on a YouTube video (it’s usually a true crime one!), read a few chapters of a book, or do something that I’ve been meaning to do such as clean up or hang up some photos on my wall.

I’ll then get back to work until around 5/5:30 and by that time I’m usually burnt out from working. If I know my partner is going to be home late, then I may work a little later than usual.

If I’m posting that day, this is when I will write my caption and get the hashtags together.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will probably have noticed that I’m not really active on my stories that much and that is because I’ll be spending time with my partner. Quality time is my love language, so really being present in the evenings is super important to me.

Every since I moved out, I’ve actually realised that I really enjoy cooking in the evenings. For me, It’s a nice way to wind down from the day and me and Reece will have a chat and catch each other up on how our days have been going. We will always eat dinner together and spend some time watching a series or a film afterwards.

I am definitely not a night owl and I’m usually tired by about 10, so that’s when I’ll start getting ready for bed and doing my night time skincare routine – another important part of my day! I’m in bed by around 10:15-10:30 and will scroll through my phone and social media for a little bit whilst the cats run around the house chasing each other and getting all of their energy out. By about 11, they will have calmed down and settled on the bed and that’s when we will go to sleep.

And that is my typical day! Of course, it does vary depending on what I’m doing and will change a lot if I’m taking photos, but I really love my daily routine and so grateful that I’m able to take it at my own pace.

Things to help you romanticize your life

Things to romanticize your life @FromBeeWithLove Bronte Huskinson

When people think of romanticizing their lives, they often think of a certain aesthetic which definitely isn’t true at all. In my opinion, romanticizing your life looks different to everybody as everybody’s lives are different and have different tastes.
